Narrative Assessment 22 Feb

Learner: Jessica S             Learning Coach: Talia Morgan           Date: 22 Feb 2016
Learning Area: Maths
Learning Observed
Today Jessica and some of her peers were invited to work on their counting with me. We were practising counting to ten. Miss Morgan gave us “Dinosaur Numbers”. Jessica had to identify what number was on the dinosaur so that she could then group that many dinosaurs. Jessica was able to quickly identify the number on the dinosaur and then count out the identified number in dinosaurs to create a group.
Evidence of learning
Jessica identified the number on the dinosaurs and then counted out that many dinosaurs.
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jessica is developing her Capabilities in maths. She was able to identify the number on the dinosaur and count out that many dinosaur counters, without the learning coach (Managing Self). Jessica used the number on the dinosaur to know how many dinosaur counters she needed (Using Language, Symbols and Text). She demonstrated an understanding of how to read numerals and count out that number of counters (Thinking). Jessica was able to help guide her peers to identify the numeral on the dinosaurs and how many dinosaur counters they needed (Participating and Contributing).
Next Learning Steps
  • Continue counting to ten often.
  • Continue reading the numerals to be able to identify them without having to count a long.
  • Continue to create the number from objects.
  • Share learning with home.
